My most frequently used MAC shadows

By FacesBySarah · November 18, 2009 · 16 Comments · 153 Views

I've had ALOT of people asking me lately about colours and recomendations, or what I use so out of all my palettes, Ive taken my most frequently used ones, and decided to share some of my fav colours:
(ALL FROM M.A.C ONLY)
PS: Please dont ask me name of colours. I only remember some of the names. I threw away the labels when I depotted them! :D

I initially had like  5 OR 6 MAC 15-pan palettes but then bought two 28-pan palettes from starsmakeuphaven.com and its so much more lighter than the MAC palettes. And easier for me cuz instead of 4 , I now carry around TWO palettes! (See more on that here: link ) There's no particular order in which I arranged them, just kinda trying to colour co-ordinate but then just went ahead anyhow since I had 58 colours to deal with!

This is one of my favourite part of the 2nd palette, the greens and blues! I love these colours and you can see they are pretty much similar(yet somehow
different!) Oh and the sratch marks on the eyeshadows are cuz sometimes when I use a colour too often, I scrape off the first layer incase its harbourin any germs etc.

and from the first palette, I love the "smokey eye" colours:

Colours like Sketch, BeautyMarked, Carbon , Trax and TopHat are my absolute FAVs for Smokey eyes!

Also from MAC, my highlight palette. Its basically all the neutrals, whites, offwhites, highlight shades, and GOLDS!

These are my MOST used colours:

You can get Vanilla EYESHADOW or VANILLA Pigment(more shimmer) but I prefer Vanilla pan eyeshadow cuz its more neutral looking. It may look like a strong colour but it comes off very subtle on fair skin. If you're a lil darker or tanned, go for sunseed mixed with Nylon or sunseed mixed with dazzlelight! Sunseed is a lil more matte and toned down colour compared to vanilla. Slight peach undertone to it, so I mix it with dazzlelight for my indian clients and it gives a nice wash of colour, without being too overbearing. sometimes the colours that suit you best are the ones that are mixed/blended yourself!

and lastly from MAC, my blusher palette:

I've taken the liberty to type the names of my most used blusher colours from MAC. Mostly used on Indian skintones and tanned skintones.

RAIZIN is a brilliant colour for contouring! I use it on practically all my clients! It is very subtle on darker skintones which is GOOD! Cuz it gives a more realistic illusion of contouring!

for highlight, I love Enoughsaid for fairer skintones and MARGIN for tanned skin tones and darker tones. Its got such a pretty GLOW that doesnt look too Strong!

oh and COPPERTONE is my new found LOVE!! Coppertone is a lovely MATTE peachy shade! I mix it with MARGIN on great for tanned/darker skin tones, to give a lovely peachy sheen!

So those are my highly recommended and MOST used and LOVED MAC eyeshaodws and blushers! Hope it helps some of you :)

Calvin Klein Makeup

I was out with Mummy at Metro (CitySquare @ Kitchener Road) and we had this $10 voucher we recieved cuz we had spent $100+ in the shops in CitySquare Mall so my mummy was like "you keep the voucher la, another day you go use" and I looked at her and said, give me 5 mins in Metro and I'll use this voucher. So we went straight down to the cosmetics section and the first thing that caught my eye was a display of CK Makeup. Well not a displa, they just had two items. One was this box (see below) and another was similar, just in a more elongated box.
These are basically sample size products. Kinda like what you get in gift coffrets. So its probably a great Xmas pressie :) This box was $49.90, but I got it for $39.90 cuz of the voucher and the other elongated bigger box was $73.90.
So go check it out and stock up on Xmas Pressies!
Oh btw I bought this for my cousin for her bday so I wont be swatchin! :D

I like that top right hand colour! SO PRETTY!

Foundation Sampler

Also it was one of my dear friends 30th birthday on Sunday, 15th so I organized a lil surprise party for her! It was lovely to see her so happy!
My makeup was purple, because I wanted to go BOLD! I dont doll up my eyes often these days :(

I only used THREE colours.
(1) Mac Purple shower, (2) MUFE #92 purple,(3)  Mac BeautyMarked
PurpleShower is a bloody sheer colour, so I made sure i REALLY packed it on!

Another new cosmetic brand to hit our shores??

By FacesBySarah · November 14, 2009 · 26 Comments · 256 Views

Its started off as an online shop, and this new brand, though local, has become a hit with me in less than 4 hours! Its pretty much NEW (few weeks/mth old) and Im sure many have not heard of it.

I was called to do makeup for a shoot for them today and I tried their products.

Only one item was a miss(the concealer) but everything else was a huge hit for me!
Im not gng to post the brand name out yet. (No its not UrbanDecay or any fancy overseas brand, but it has prooved that locals can do a fab job as well!)

This is just a teaser :D
Will post photos soon!

EDIT:
Ok here are photos! To be honest, I have ALOT more that I took of the products but I didnt want you guys to find out YET so here are some pics of the shoot :D

hehehehee

Heeee heeeee...you cant see the name!! :D
(But the black tubes reminded me of Givency. Its the exact same shape/size  and the compacts reminded me of bobbiBrown. So alot of high end brand inspirations yet, this is a local brand.... am I teasing you too much yet?? ) :p

There were 3 of us makeupartists and we had 2 looks each to create.

Maya , Me , Lynn

My lovely model Anna Lim :)

This is Joey, lovely founder of ...... (insert makeup brand name here) :D

But of course all god things come at a price...So does this. After removing the polishes, they tend to stain the skin n nails a little bit. See this is what happened when I tried to remove the blue:

I had to make sure i go to the toilet and thoroughly wash my hands. I use my cleanser to wash my hands to ensure all traces of it disappeared! LOL

Have you guys purchased any yet?? Which colour? Let me know your views on it k! :)
Right now Im using Jumpin' Jade! :)

HAUL!! So exciting!!!

By FacesBySarah · November 11, 2009 · 13 Comments · 154 Views

I went makeup shopping todayyyyyyyyyy! YAYYYYYYYY!! :)

First stop was MAC. NONE of these were for me!
MAC Groundwork Paintpot (For my darker toned clients. LayingLow Paintpot is my HG bt its a bloody LimitedEdition so no more!!) :(
MAC Coppertone Blusher (I needed a brighter shade for my indian clients cuz Im bored of using the same few shades on em!)
MAC StudioFix NC 35 for my sister (She needed something urgently cuz she's involved with APEC and obviously needs to look presentable so rather than using my stuff every morning, decided to my her one for herself!)

Then at Watsons I spotted these AWESOME new nailcolours from SallyHansen! And you guys KNOW Im a sucker for BOLD colours!

Bought these two yummy colours!

It has the flat brush (Bourjois had it before too) and its true to its title.Dries real fast! Dries almost matte looking bt still has some shine. Best to top it off with a glossy topcoat!)

And at Sephora... I got totally blown away with my new buys!!!!

FRED FARRUGIA!
http://www.fredfarrugia.com

I firsty read about them on Mag's blog (makeupstash.com) and was totally floored by this genius creation!

Its this awesome compact case where you can basically choose what you want to have to carry along!

You can choose from: Eyeshadows, CreamEyeshadows, GelEyeliner, Lipgloss,Lipstick, Blusher, Foundation, Concealer, Compact Powder. SERIOUSLY! And you can have up to 8 like "slide out"s. They are currently only available at Orchard ION's Sephora. Fred Farrugai.

Current promo is, Choose 4 slides, $35 per slide, and top up $5 for the front n back casing, and you pay $110 for it in total. (Regular pricing would be about $140)

COOL OR WHAT?
But to be honest, variety is pretty pathetic! Not much to choose from, and my gf who was with me pointed out that if you buy the eyeshadows, you have to like BOTH colours cuz you cant just buy one, it comes in a duo form. But I assure you the colours are heavily pigmented! Have a look!

It even comes with thissuper cute lil 'sock' casing for it!

You can choose to have lipgloss, eyeshadow, blusher to make it more compact to be brought out but you know me, I love eyeshadows! the blusher and lipstick colours didnt appeal to me so I bought all 3 eyeshadow slides

Such brilliant colours + shimmer + payoff!

Ok not entirely all eyeshadows, these are CREAM eyeshadows and I would probably use them as bases!

So YES, PLEASE do go down to ION Sephora and check it out! Super adorable, super creative! and if you find colours that you love then you may be able to create awhole makeup pouch in one Fred Farrugai swivel case! Id suggest getting one compact or concealer slide, one blusher slide, one eyeshadow slide and one lipgloss/lipstick slide! :D

Let me know your views!

xoxo
